Confessions of an Ipod Addict
Since I've been coming clean here in cyberspace, I might as well add another confession. I love my Ipod. Yes, that's right! I said Ipod. This forty something working mom is addicted to her Ipod!
Honestly, I never gave the Ipod "craze" even a second thought until Sammie and Andrew got Ipods for Christmas. Shortly after that my mom was hospitalized and I headed up to Chicago. Knowing I'd be facing many long hours in the hospital, Sammie offered to lend me her Ipod. It was at that moment my love began.
Now before you think I rushed right out a bought myself one, you need to know my budget wouldn't allow that. Instead, I waited patiently for my birthday and then dropped about a gazillion hints that I wanted one. Not wanting another "snow cone machine" repeat (don't ask. . really it's a sad story) my hubby took the bait and bought me my the coveted magic music machine.
Since that day, we've been inseparable. I almost always have my Ipod with me. I have it with me in the car, where I can listen with one of those adapter thingys. I have it with me when I'm in church (hey, you never know when you may get a really bum sermon. . .j/k Pastor Ray). But the point is, I keep my Ipod with me, like a security blanket.
I'm getting ready to travel to Maryland for a conference at the end of the month. I know while I'm there I'll need to leave many of my creature comforts in the hotel, including my watch and my cell phone. However, I'm NOT, I repeat NOT giving up my Ipod. Now Ipods aren't on the "no-no" list for the conference, but even if they were, I'd still find a way to sneak mine in. Can you say "break the rules 101?"
Now before you get all high and mighty on me, you need to know WHY I love my Ipod so much. I love it because it provides immediate access to praise and worship music, which of course connects me to my real love--Jesus.
So I may be addicted to my Ipod, but as long as it brings me closer to my sweet LORD (hey isn't that part of a song?) I won't be entering any twelve step program.
Gettin' my praise on,
~Cheryl

Yeah, I pretty much suffer from the same addiction. I even have an adapter to play it through my home steroeo system...ROCK ON! Yeah, I've been known to wear the thing in the bath-tub...albeit the actual ipod sits on the table that sits next to the tub...but yeah, I totally understand this facination. I would love to tell you it was because of the same reasons you have, but mine are much more self centered...I just don't know how to live without music. Don't get me wrong...I have plenty of P&W music on the thing...but also country, show tunes, oldies, a little 80's rock, a rockin 70's playlist...I even have a Beth Moore "book on tape" (which I haven't listened to...) Anyway, HAPPY LISTENING!
I too suffer from the love of the 'pod!!!
:) I'm trying to make you a myspace friend but it won't let me ... :(
I had to change the name of my blog - I just had tooooo...God blew my mind with blessings this week... Who wants the ordinary life when you can have an extraordinary life with our Lord!!! :)
I-Pods Anonymous! WE should form a group. no but really mine has not been working and i took it in to best buy and it is the USB so I ordered another one on ebay. Praise You Father it was only the USB.
girl i feel you...and be glad you know how to work it :) ...my 39 year old friend called me the other day in a panic because she wanted to take her sons ipod to go on a walk, and she couldn't figure out how to "eject" it from the itunes screen. i had the best laugh to which she said
"see, this is why grown-ups shouldn't be allowed to have technological toys" ....hahaha...she knows she loves it though :)
My hubby started me on my addiction. He bought me one for our long plane ride recently. I have since gotten myself an armband thingy. I plug in the earphones and work away. My feeling is that music belongs to us all-it's just the device that is modern minded!

Yes ma'am- I am addicted as well. I have to be VERY careful b/c those .99 songs sure do add up...I have a BAD habit of just listening to a song adn I'm like..ooooh that is a good song..click...there goes .99 more cents!! Oh well..I have an iPod full of 200+ good praise and worship songs...and like you, you will RARELY find me without it!! Oh I love me some good music that is readily accessible!!
I have one that I have yet to sit down and learn how to operate. My husband uses his and he would be glad to show me how but I've just kinda stared at it. Have you ever had a special treat you just wanted to look at for a while before touching? I know, that's kinda silly. Really, I just don't want one more thing to have to dissect in order to operate it well. I know it must not be too hard but I just haven't jumped in and read the directions yet. You make me want to "JUST DO IT!"
it's on this years christmas list. i know i'm a little slow. :)
