What's your spiritual work-out?

Today was second session of high school Sunday School. Much to my delight and surprise our numbers doubled from last week. It's still a small group, but it's growing. That's fantastic! Can you say, "God is Good!!" (all the time, of course)

The theme for today was spiritual power. We watched a clip from the film, "Unbreakable." In the clip, Bruce Willis was working out and was able to lift more weight than even he thought was capable. We discussed our spiritual strength and how in order to maintain (or develop) it we need to do our own spiritual work outs.

So the question for the day is: what do you do to strengthen your spiritual life?? I'd love to share your responses with the kids next week. So leave a comment or two, okay?

Sometimes this comes more naturally than other times. At various points in my life, I've found the need to shift my approach ... and would say I'm in the midst of working on that now. In recent months and years, I've found it's important for me to be open to people and experiences that "look different" than what I would have expected God to send ... Yet upon close inspection, I've found God's prints all over. Does that make sense? The kind of church to which Jesus has led me has been so different than the one of my upbringing. Voices of wisdom have sometimes shown up in unconventional packages. And I've found how essential it is for me to have and consult spiritual mentors and authorities. I'm also working on actively acknowledging what I have and am grateful for. (It can be so much easier to give energy to what I want, don't have, think I need, etc.) To support myself in that, I fill a page in my journal every night with a list of gratitudes. So ... My workout is not all worked out, but I hope these thoughts on where I am with it will be supportive somehow.

Just learning Who God is and how He works in daily living?? Trying to be in tune to Him and seeing Him throughout the day. I wish I had known Him in high school or even college or even early adult life....I had no idea He could be personal because noone ever explained to me or showed me where to find Him.....And of course you must spend time with Him on a daily basis. That can be anything....prayer, praise and worship, bible study, devotions, whatever floats your boat for that day.

Maybe this will be some tiny insight!! Good job girl.

stay in the word no matter how i "feel" and listen to sermons, read, get my praise on...prayer journal and share. I am not a real good "example" but these are some things that keep me focused. I need more time to get honest before the Lord...I have been irritable and feel like I am going to lose it today! :)

Just the basics (How can I say "just"?) Read my bible and pray. Good praise music and sending up some gratitude.
